As for the video, instead of revealing the plot for the sequel, the footage reminds the viewers about what they loved about the first movie. However, it is worth noting that characters Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) might be in for some larger storylines in the second film, Screen Rant reported.
Gunn said that the footage is meant to pique the curiosity of fans who were not able to catch the trailer during the San Diego Comic-con. Said footage is different from the sneek peek but it nevertheless shows the "Guardians," Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket and Groot in action.
The "Guardians" will be joined by new member in Mantis (Pom Klementeiff) an acquaintance, who has never really experienced social interaction. On the other hand, there is also a younger Groot who will reportedly be treated differently from the Groot in the original film, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Speaking about Groot, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz said, "He doesn't have the wisdom and experience of that Groot," the added, "He's a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that's sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?"
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" opens on May 5, 2017.
