Back then, the game "Red Faction" back in 2001 was one of the hit first-person shooters back in the days of the PlayStation 2. However, it was considered to be too violent by some European countries like Germany. Right now, the rating system for the game has been changed and it also has been rated for its rerelease on the PlayStation 4.
According to NeoGaf, the site was able to grab hold of the news that the European rating agency PEGI just rated 2001's PS2 classic "Red Faction" for its release on the PS4. THQ Nordic is reported to release the hit shooter game sometime soon.
This isn't the first game THQ Nordic tackled to go through the same rating process before release. Their previous game "Destroy All Humans!" has just been remastered and it will be possible that the studio will go same route with their other games in the portfolio to be released for the PS4.
In other news, Germany has just recently lifted the ban on "Red Faction," according to Gamespot. Back then, the country's Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons mentioned that the game was "damaging" to the country's youth, even adding other games like "Fallout 3" into the index.
"At THQ Nordic, we were aware of the implications of this momentous decision, and needed to adopt a bold approach." stated THQ Nordic publishing director Jans Binsmaier. It was because of the company's "tact and some skillful powers of persuasion," along with "numerous discussions" that convince the department to remove the game from the index.
