Deadpool 2 is one of the most awaited sequels in film history what with the $780 million mega success that is Deadpool (it hasn't even been released in China because of graphic violence). However, its film director has walked away from directing part 2 when he and the movie's star disputed over the concept.
Director Tim Miller recently announced he's no longer going to direct the sequel of Deadpool when he and the film's creative team, which involves Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds and writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have disagreed on the concept of the part 2, The Wrap reported.
The film which only took $58 million to make took 11 years for it to finally come into the big screen with Reynolds doing all the lobbying. So when Miller wanted to make the sequel stylish, elevating it to the levels of other mega successful superhero movies, but which would cost three times more than the first one, Reynolds just had to say no.
The latter's vision joined with Wernick and Reese ultimately won so Miller pulled off and quickly pivoted his focus on a different 20th Century Fox project entitled "Influx."
Now the million dollar question is who would replace Miller. There has been a petition of fans for Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds, and Hateful Eight) to take the reign and direct the much awaited sequel. But the critically acclaimed director does not need to direct a comic based character because he is "too precious of a commodity" to be bothered by the inevitable sequel, Forbes reported.
Deadpool will be successful regardless of who directs it. But the studio really wants the sequel to work so if it wants to keep its star happy, then it must make a bold hire for a new director.
Deadpool 2 has no deadline yet but it doesn't mean it has to slack off by hiring a new man who could work well enough with the creative department, which is currently led by Ryan Reynolds.
The new movie is reportedly going to feature a character called Domino, who is a former mercenary like Deadpool. The actresses who have auditioned for the role included Sienna Miller, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lizzy Caplan, and Sofia Boutella to name a few.
