Kunal Nayyar, 34, is not only known for his role Raj Koothrappali in the CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory." The British-Indian actor and writer is also a voice actor. Here are three characters he voiced:
1. Gupta in "Ice Age: Continental Drift"
In 2012, Nayyar voiced Gupta in "Ice Age: Continental Drift," which was written by Michael Berg and Jason Fuchs and directed by Michael Thurmeier and Steve Martino. Nayyar's character in the 3D computer-animated comedy adventure film is a Bengali Badger.
Among Nayyar's fellow voice actors in "Ice Age: Continental Drift" who are also of Asian descent are Indian actor Aziz Ansari and Nicki Minaj, who is of Trinidadian and Indian heritage.
2. Vidjay Patel in "Sanjay and Craig"
From 2013 to 2015, Nayyar voiced Vijay Patel in "Sanjay and Craig" on Nickelodeon. The animated TV series was created by Jay Howell, Andreas Trolf and Jim Dirschberger.
Like Nayyar, Vijay Patel is Indian. He is the father of Sanjay Patel, an excitable Indian-American boy voiced by Maulik Pancholy, who loves to go on adventures with his best friend Craig Slithers, who is voiced by Chris Hardwick.
3. Guy Diamond in "Trolls"
After "Ice Age: Continental Drift" and "Sanjay and Craig," Nayyar will voice his second character in an animated film. The "Big Bang Theory" star will voice Guy Diamond in "Trolls."
Directed by Walt Dohrn and Mike Mitchell and written by Glenn Berger and Jonathan Aibel, "Trolls" will be released in Malaysia and Singapore on Nov. 3 and the United States on Nov. 4. The other lead characters will be voiced by Anna Kendrick, James Corden, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, Russell Brand and Icona Pop's Aino Jawo, among others.
Currently, Nayyar stars in "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9. In a recent interview with Times of India, he was asked to compare himself to his character Raj Koothrapalli.
"I have a pretty innocent, wide-eyed view of the world and sometimes I can get into trouble because of that," Nayyar told the publication. "Raj and I are quite similar in our nerdy behavior."
In December 2015, Nayyar was in India to promote his book titled "Yes, My Accent Is Real: And Some Other Things I Haven't Told You," DNA India reported.
