"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" on ABC will be airing a new another spinoff project to be shown digitally called "Slingshot."

Based on recent reports by Comicbook.com, the producers were all in launching its first spinoff series called "Most Wanted," but when ABC didn't pick up the pilot they had to scrap that in favor of the new web spinoff series "Slingshot."

The digital web series will be about actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley's character Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez and will actually be a prequel to the start of season 4 of "'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," showing how Yo-Yo will learn to come into terms with her unique powers and reveal a bit of the character's past.

Cordova-Buckley actually says that "There's a lot of me in Yo-Yo and a lot of Yo-Yo in me."

Here's the official description of the upcoming web series:

"'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot' takes place shortly before the beginning of 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4. The digital series features Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, an Inhuman with the ability to move at super-speed. As a person with powers, she must sign the Sokovia Accords. However, the restrictions of the Accords are in direct conflict with a personal mission she's desperate to fulfill, one that will test her abilities and will include tense encounters with S.H.I.E.L.D. team members."

"Slingshot" launches on Dec. 13 on the ABC app, which also marks the return of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" to ABC.

In other news, 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" will continue on Jan. 10 next year and will be setting its focus on the LMD storyline, changing its title (probably for now) to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: LMD."

The LMD is an abbreviation for "Life Model Decoys," which is a concept long in the history of Marvel Comics. These Life Model Decoys are robotic versions of numerous Marvel characters often having an antagonistic role.
