Tom Payne discusses what to expect before the midseason finale. Payne, who plays Jesus in the show was tight-lipped about spoilers but opened up a little teasing a showdown between Rick and Negan.
"I can't say too much, but I guess if we get back to the Sanctuary, we might see him [Jesus] again because he's not going to be anywhere else, or he'll be around the Sanctuary area. I don't know. I'm interested to see how Rick takes to coming back and finding Negan holding Judith," he told Comic Book.
He went to say that he actually forgot that Negan went to Alexandria where Carl and Judith are also found. He said the event is likely a set up for something big.
"You forget little things and what happens, and I had forgotten actually that Negan goes to Alexandria and is there with Carl and Judith. That's all set up for something to go down, because Rosita walked back and saw that they were here and Spencer's there, and with Rosita and Eugene, and they're all discovering Negan is back at Alexandria. We'll see how that plays out," he explained.
Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan had been a fan favorite in the series despite being the villain. The actor had since announced that he will be back for Season 8, Howard Stern reported.
Critics point out that at this time, "The Walking Dead" might be facing "viewer fatigue problems" with the seeming departure of some of its viewers. If this is the case, showrunner Scott Gimple's response might be timely after announcing that the tone of the show will be changed in the second half of the season.
"The Walking Dead" Season 7 midseason finale "Hearts Still Beating" airs on Dec. 11. Watch the promo for the episode below:
