What better way to give back to fans this Christmas than by giving them new tunes to sing and dance along to? That exactly is the reason behind EXO's decision to release a Christmas album every year since their debut.
EXO has officially begun the countdown to the release of their upcoming EXO Winter Special Album 2016. This is the groups fourth annual winter release, following "Miracles in December," "The Winter's Tale" and "Sing For You," Soompi reported.
Much like other EXO releases, the group's Christmas albums also take high positions in the charts. For instance, "Sing For You" peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard World Album Chart.
On Dec. 14, EXO's official website embraced a Christmas theme featuring a photo of ice cubes in the shape of the group's logo. They also left a special message that reads, "EXO Winter Special 2016." SM Entertainment also confirmed that EXO has completed filming for the music video for the special winter release.
Releasing a special winter album has been an annual tradition for the boys of EXO. Each year they present different themes and different genres of music. As to why the group comes out with a new Christmas album every year, SM Entertainment explained that it is EXO gift to their fans.
"The special winter album that EXO releases every December is meant to be a special Christmas gift for all of EXO's fans," the agency said, as quoted by Soompi. By releasing winter songs of a high caliber in December, the members hope to express their gratitude for the fans who have given the group their unwavering love and support throughout the year."
EXO will make their winter comeback on Dec. 19 at 12 a.m. KST with the title track "For Life." The EXO Winter Special Album 2016 will also be release simultaneously in various music websites.
