"Final Fantasy VII" will be getting a remake soon and Square Enix has already confirmed "Kingdom Hearts 3" director Kyohei Suzuki to be the director.

Attack of the Fanboy was actually kind enough to get a translation of an article from the Japanese website Inside-Games saying that Suzuki has announced that he and his team are currently working on the remake of one of the best "Final Fantasy" classics in the series. Other than being a game director, Suzuki and his team was also part of Square Enix's Business Division 4 and has worked on on "Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days" and "Kingdom Hearts Re: Code," as well as the "Dissidia Final Fantasy" video games on PSP and "Final Fantasy All The Bravest."

While fans initially thought that the game will be episodic, Gamespot reported that the upcoming "Final Fantasy VII" remake will somehow follow the formula of "Final Fantasy XIII," in which it will be released be released in multiple full-sized games.

"Final Fantasy XIII" had three installments. First was the game maintaining the same title, followed by "Final Fantasy XIII-2" and, lastly, "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII." While all of them could each be played as a standalone game, they shared a continuing story. It's possible that the "Final Fantasy VII" remake would do something similar, even adopting some elements from the spin-offs like "Crisis Core" or "Advent Children."

With that being the case, the potential remake would take quite a long time in development. At least fans should be expecting the first portion to be released sometime on 2017, but no official announcements have been made yet. However, it should be worth noting that the year 2017 should be an opportune time for the remake's release since it marks the 20th anniversary of "Final Fantasy VII," back then when it was released on the PlayStation One.

Fans also hope that the "Final Fantasy VII" remake would fare better than "Final Fantasy XV." Although the latest title has received some positive feedback, there were a few deficiencies that lacked in the gameplay and even the story due to rushed production.
