Rachel Zane might be making a career shift when "Suits" Season 6 returns in January.
Following Jessica Pearson's (Gina Torres) exit from the firm, Rachel Zane will be mulling over her professional life as she moves through it without a mentor. Speaking with TV Line, series creator/showrunner Aaron Korsh has revealed that Rachel will be offered with a new job in episode 11 by an unlikely source: her father, Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce).
"Her father is going to say, 'Listen, it was one thing when Jessica was there. She's not there, and I'm not sure that firm is going to survive without her. Come work for me,'" Korsh previewed.
"She's got to decide: Is she going to stay at Pearson Specter, or is she going to go work for her dad?"
While it's clear that the absence of Jessica presents a new challenge for Harvey and Louis, the effects of her departure is also reverberating among the other players. Rachel, having been one of the most loyal employees of Pearson-Specter-Litt, will now have to make a major evaluation about her life and future.
As Korsh noted, Robert is only looking out for the future of his daughter - who got embroiled into the firm's fraud scandal with Mike. Ultimately, all he wants for Rachel is to embrace change and opt for a better future.
"In his mind, and potentially in the real world, [Rachel] might have a better chance of getting into the bar if she left the firm that hired a fraud and moved on," Korsh explained.
"So that's part of his sales pitch."
"Suits" stars Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty. In August, the series has been officially renewed for a seventh season, which is set to premiere in 2017.
An all new episode of "Suits" titled "She's Gone," is scheduled to air on Wednesday, Jan. 5 on USA Network.
