Following his highly successful collaboration with fellow electronic dance music artist Diplo and Justin Bieber, Skrillex has cast his sights on the popular South Korean all-female group 4Minute.
After soaring in the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and romping off with the Collaboration of the Year American Music Award with Diplo and Bieber for "Where Are U Now, " Skrillex or Sonny Moore has ignited the interest of fans eager for a unique new track.
The quirky members of 4Minute have been busy recording for the new album, juggling activities at the homefront and overseas, KPop Herald reported.
While Korean sites have excitedly reported about the collaboration track for 4Minute's Extended Play recording, representatives of Skrillex have stayed mum on the matter.
In any case, 4Minute's usual genre of dance, rap/hip-hop and ballad goes well with Skrillex's wide range of musical style.
The 28-year-old American DJ, songwriter and electronic music producer is striking while the iron is hot, and sustaining his collaboration with K-pop artists.
During the Ultra Music Festival in Miami in 2015, Skrillex brought onstage Diplo, Bieber, Diddy, Kiesza as well as 2NE1 member CL, who performed "Dirty Vibe."
"Dirty Vibe" is a collaboration of the dubstep prince with Diplo, BIGBANG's G-Dragon and CL. It is part of the "Recess" debut studio album of Skrillex.
Formed by Cube Entertainment in 2009, 4Minute consists of energetic members Kim Hyun-a, stylized as HyunA, Kwon So-hyun, Nam Ji-hyun, Heo Ga-yoon and Jeon Ji-yoon.
In late 2012, 4Minute chugged on with four members, as Gayoon recuperated from an illness. In May 2013, it was HyunA who had to temporarily cease performing due to hospital confinement for dehydration.
The K-pop group's previous mini-album "Crazy" scored high in Billboard's World Albums chart during the first quarter of 2015.
In February, after a year, 4Minute is set to drop its new EP "Act 7." The all-girl group is noted for reenergizing its sound and look.
The silence in DJ Skrillex's camp has not dampened the enthusiasm of fans of both the EDM artist and one of South Korea's well-loved girl groups.
The release of the new mini-album marks 4Minute's successful return this year, with music that is "more unique and of higher quality than before ," KBS World reported.
