"Avatar" actor Sam Worthington and "Red Dog" actress Keisha Castle-Hughes are set to star opposite "The Avengers" actor Paul Bettany in Discovery Channel's Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) crime drama "Manifesto." "Banshee" director Greg Yaitanes is being helmed on it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bettany is set to take on the role of unabomber Ted Kaczynski in "Manifesto." Worthington will play Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald, who is one of the most decorated profilers FBI agent in the history of the bureau. His radical approach to intelligence gathering ultimately took Kaczynski down.
Castle-Hughes, on the other hand, will play a street agent Tabby partnering with Fitzgerald in "Manifesto." She has no experience in the department because she is studying psychology, putting her in the Behavioral Unit. She tries to keep her partner in check in the quest to solve the case, Deadline reported.
"Manifesto" is an eight-episode series that tells the story of how the FBI captures one of the most infamous criminal masterminds in the world Kaczynski. Its first season will focus the Unabomber-Fitzgerald storyline.
Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti through their Trigger Street Productions banner will executive produce "Manifesto." "The Handmade" screenwriter Andrew Sodrosky wrote the screenplay as well as executive produce with Spacey, Brunetti, Troy Searer, and Discovery's John Goldwyn. The real Fitzgerald will serve as consulting producer.
Worthington will have his first major leading role on the U.S. television in "Manifesto." He currently stars in Mel Gibson's "Hacksaw Ridge" and appeared in James Cameron's action fantasy "Avatar," McG's action sci-fi "Terminator Salvation," and Louis Leterrier's action fantasy "Clash of the Titans." He is represented by CAA, Shanahan Management, Anonymous Content, and Hansen Jacobson.
Castle-Hughes has had roles in George Lucas' action fantasy "Game of Thrones and Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith." She can next be seen in Jason Hall's drama "Thank You for Your Service."
Premiere date for "Manifesto" has not yet been set.
