The "Fright Night 3" release date may be scheduled somewhere in 2019 when Tom Holland gets back the script rights, American director teases fans on twitter confirming a new novel based on the what could be the script of the third instalment.
"Fright Night" original movie came out in 1985 and ended up as a huge blockbuster. Tom Holland who directed the movie is known for other scripts in the horror genre itself. The director seems excited to get behind the camera and direct the sequel of the original blockbuster as well.
Over the weekend, the director went on to tease fans about the possibility of a sequel being in the pipeline over Twitter. Holland confirmed that he had almost finished work on the next "Fright Night" novel.
Though the director did not confirm details about a movie script, speculations are rife that he may take up the project once he gets back the rights to the script in 2019.
"Fright Night" holds a special place in Tom Holland's portfolio because it is his first movie as a director, as reported on Den of Geek. However, Holland had been producing a few series before the movie came out.
In 1984, Holland was compelled to sell the rights of the movie in order to generate funds to complete making it. According to the Copyrights Act, Holland is entitled to get back reclaim the rights to his film's script only in 2019.
Therefore, it is likely that the ace director will look to cash in on the script and come out with the third installment of the movie.
Holland has confirmed working on the next novel in the "Fright Night" series though he continues to remain skeptical about the movie. John Skipp had originally adapted the movie into a novel in 1985 itself, as reported on AV Club.
The script was also adapted in various comic book series. In fact, the popularity of the franchise led to the producers coming out with a sequel some time later. Sadly the sequel failed to garner fame as it was overshadowed by the murder of Jose Menendez who had purchased the rights to the script from Holland.
Nevertheless, the movie does have a cult following as many fans are excited at the prospect of a third part coming out in the near future.
