It was way back in June 2015 when the third installment of the hit horror franchise, "Insidious," provided a glimpse of Elise Rainier's (Lin Shaye) past. Since "Insidious: Chapter 4" was confirmed several months ago, recent reports suggest that the next installment will still be a prequel.
According to Screen Rant, the next chapter of the "Insidious" film franchise might focus more on Elise's past. The publication cited the comments of Shaye during an interview, where she provided a sneak peek of "Insidious: Chapter 4." The actress said that the next installment will return to her character's beginnings.
Shaye added that "Insidious: Chapter 4" will start at where the previous film ended, and that would be starting a company along with Tucker (Angus Sampson) and Specs (Leigh Whannell). Shaye also revealed that "Insidious: Chapter 4" is going to bring the audience back to Elise's home in New Mexico wherein her family will be seen. The 73-year-old American film and television actress also teased fans that the next "Insidious" movie will be a lot scarier.
On the other hand, reports are loud that Leigh Whannell will no longer direct "Insidious: Chapter 4." It is said that Adam Robitel ("The Taking of Deborah Logan") will be directing the next installment. It can be recalled that the first two "Insidious" films were directed by James Wan, while Whannell took over the directing seat in chapter 3.
Although it was confirmed that Robitel will direct "Insidious: Chapter 4," it has been said that Whannell will still play a part off-screen and will also reprise his role as Specs in the anticipated horror movie, GnG cited. Sources also said that Wan will still be a part of the film as a producer.
In regards to the release date of "Insidious: Chapter 4," it has been confirmed that the next installment of the hit horror franchise will be seen on the big screen on Oct. 20.
