"Deadpool 2" is currently in pre-production, but they haven't quite nailed the most anticipated part of the sequel: Cable. After numerous "Deadpool 2" cast reports not a single actor has been confirmed in talks for the part, but it appears that a certain photo might have done the part.
"Deadpool 2" lead star Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram to share a photo of him with Hugh Jackman and Pierce Brosnan. The trio did the "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" which probably means that they met up for a top secret project. This single photo has led to a bevy of speculations. One, it coincides with reports that Jackman might reprise his role as Wolverine in "Deadpool 2" for a presumed rematch with Wade Wilson.
Second, it also leads to another big question: How does Brosnan fit into all of this? The most logical answer is that he's probably in talks to play Cable. If ever he does sign up as Cable, the role fits Brosnan like a glove. In the comics, Cable is a time-travelling military veteran. He appears older, although still very much muscular.
Acting-wise, Brosnan is flawless in that department. His experience as James Bond definitely ups his chances of playing Cable in the "Deadpool 2" cast.
Brosnan is the newest name to be attached to the role of Cable. One of the most popular fan picks is Stephen Lang, who even did his little campaign to show interest in joining the "Deadpool 2" cast. According to Screen Rant, former "Deadpool 2" director Tim Miller largely favored Kyle Chandler for the role of Cable. His decision reportedly caused a rift between Miller and Reynolds, since the latter wanted to go in a different direction.
Meanwhile, filming for "Deadpool 2" has not yet begun. Reynolds told MTV News that filming will begin as soon as they're ready. He assured fans, however, that things are going great and that "everybody is seamlessly locked in to the situation."
