David Anders, who returns to the "iZombie" Season 3 as Blaine DeBeers, recently expressed his interest to see the show turn into a musical. However, Robert Buckley disagrees and wants the series to stick to zombie romance instead.
Anders wants to see an episode of the "iZombie" turn into a musical. He said the show has been compared to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which had a musical. He hopes that the zombie series would follow its footsteps.
"We've been lobbying hard for a musical episode," Anders told TV Guide.
However, Robert Buckley is against the idea. Instead, he wants the "iZombie" to stick to what it is all about, which is about zombie drama. Buckley, who plays the social worker-turned zombie Major, says that he would rather the show focus on zombie romance.
"It's not like Taco Bell sees the Whopper doing so well and goes, 'Oh yeah, we should make one of those!'" Buckley told the publication.
It would not be hard to imagine seeing a musical episode of the "iZombie." After all, the casts in the show are very talented. Anders can sing and he too plays the piano. Rose McIver, who plays the mortician Liv Moore, also revealed her singing voice in a past episode.
Moreover, Aly Michalka, who plays Peyton, is a country singer. Like Anders, she too wants to see a musical episode of the "iZombie" and believes that having the fans involved might just help make it happen.
Regardless, The CW has yet to announce a renewal on the show after the "iZombie" Season 3. Filming for the third instalment already wrapped up, so the chance of seeing the musical episode lies on the renewal.
Meanwhile, the "iZombie" Season 3 returns to The CW on April 4 with a two-hour season premiere. Two episodes will be aired back-to-back starting at 8:00 p.m., according to Den of Geek. The series then follows its usual time slot at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.
