2016 was a great year for BTS and the male idol group is welcoming 2017 with a bang! They recently nabbed four major awards at the Seoul Music Awards and is nominated in the upcoming Shorty Awards.
BTS took home four awards from the prestigious Seoul Music Awards. According to Soompi, BTS won Best Album for "Wings," the group's second studio album. The official title track for "Wings," titled "Blood, Sweat and Tears," also won Best Music Video Award.
Additionally, BTS took home the Best Male Dance Performance and was also recognized with a Bonsang Award, which is one of the highest prizes given at the Seoul Music Awards.
"Thanks to all of you, 2016 was a time of improvement for us in many aspects," BTS greeted their fans at the Seoul Music Awards red carpet.
BTS might add more awards to their trophy shelves as the group receives a Shorty Award nomination for their outstanding social media presence and influence. All the members of BTS are known for keeping in touch with their fans using their individual social media accounts.
The group is nominated under the Music category and is going head to head with superstars Drake, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Twenty One Pilots and more. According to Shorty Awards, "BTS has got a strong Instagram presence with their concept photo sessions." Award giving body also recognized as one of the most popular influencers on Twitter, having been named by Forbes as the most retweeted artist on the said platform. BTS is the only South Korean act nominated in the 2017 Shorty Awards.
Meanwhile, BTS is said to make a comeback sometime in February. According to Big Hit Entertainment, BTS is currently preparing for a comeback presumably in February, although nothing has been finalized yet. "They are still discussing what type of release they will put out. No time period for a release has been set," the agency added.
