"Nerd Herd" actress Melanie Griffith is set to guest star on Hulu's "The Path" Season 2. She will be heading to the nearest streaming device.
According to Variety, Griffith has been cast as the mother of a new recurring character named Noa ("Hunters" actress Britne Oldford) in "The Path" Season 2. Her character is described as being successful in the music industry, so Cal ("Hannibal" actor Hugh Dancy) will do anything to get her support for the Meyerist movement.
Meanwhile, Oldford's character in "The Path" Season 2 is a novice searching for herself within The Movement. She catches Hawk's ("1 Night" actor Kyle Allen) eye and shows him that real change can only be achieved through radical means. "Exodus: Gods and Kings" actor Aaron Paul and "Source Code" actress Michelle Monaghan are also on board to play Eddie Lane and Sarah Lane, respectively.
"The Path" is about members of a fictional cult, known as Meyerism, TV Guide reported. The plot of Season 2 picks up after the departure of Paul's character Eddie from the Meyerism movement.
"Refuge" writer Jessica Goldberg created "The Path" and serves as executive producer with "Parenthood" creator Jason Katims and Michelle Lee. Universal Television is the production studio.
Griffith earned an Academy Award nomination for her lead role in Mike Nichol's comedy drama "Working Girl" (1988) and earned praise for starring in Brian de Palma's thriller "Body Double" (1984) and Jonathan Demme's crime comedy-drama "Something Wild" (1986). She also earned an Emmy nomination for the TV movie "RKO 281" (1999), which was a series regular on the short-lived series "Twins" and "Viva Laughlin."
Griffith's most recent television appearance was as a recurring guest star on TV series "Hawaii Five-0" starting in 2014. The Oscar-nominated actress also starred in the TV movie "Nerd Herd" opposite "Psych" actor James Roday.
"The Path" Season 2 is set to air on Jan. 25, Wednesday, with the first two episodes in Hulu.
