It is now the second time that another luxury Apple watch pop up store closed this month. It shut down the glamorous Galeries Lafayette Apple watch store in Paris.
The first luxury Apple watch pop up store that closed was at Selfridges department store in the United Kingdom, according to Mac Rumors. This leaves to the only one remaining luxury Apple pop up store in the world, their shop at Isetan Shinjuku located in Tokyo.
The three pop up stores posing as high-end Apple watch stores were opened in April 2015. Their Apple smart watches are showcased as magnificent fashion jewelries. There was already a rumor circulating regarding Galeries Lafayette in Paris's luxury Apple watch pop up store closure last October 2016 but it had not been verified, until now.
Apple has been veering away from their luxury line. The latest that Apple has featured was an Apple watch focusing more as a sports brand. It concentrates more on fitness, running, jogging, and doing active activities.
Apple has ceased the production of the high-end gold edition smart timepieces that retail for about $17,000, Phone Arena reported. In September 2016, their luxury gold edition line has been replaced by the Apple timepiece ceramic edition that retails at about $1,300.
Months prior to pre-orders being made, Apple has launched their high-end line at the Paris Fashion Week. A popular Chinese model Liu Wen has even advertised the high-end brand of phones and devices in the social media and in magazines.
However, they have just promoted the Apple timepiece as a fitness band instead. The Apple's shift has come after the recent purchase of Pebble by Fitbit.
Apple could have been alarmed by the future of their timepieces. Although to date, the Apple watch still remains strong at the top and Apple is still cashing in from their revenues any ways.
Meanwhile, now the Galeries Lafayette in Paris shop has not been included in the list of the retail stores where the brand can be availed. Why would they close the store? Probably because the Apple timepiece is not pushed as a luxury fashionable item anymore, but as a fitness device marketed to the average masses. Apparently, Apple has just realized that their smart watch device should not have been established as a fashion accent after all.
