The latest Sony Xperia X and X compact update is aimed at fixing a series of security issues that are anticipated to lead to various vulnerabilities but it is still unclear if the users can expect any addition to existing features.
The January update also puts Sony way ahead of its competitors. It is the first big brand to come out with security patches for its models this year. Additionally, Sony has also addressed some key issues that may have ended up being a major cause of concern for its users.
Sony introduced the update and security fixes on January 20, earlier this year. Sony also introduced the update for Sony Xperia Performance Xperia E5 also in the initial weeks of January.
As of now, there is no clarity on the update that the users can expect in terms of the changes in feature. Xperia X was introduced with Android version 7.0. However, Sony has also introduced Android 7.1.1 for its concept android projects.
The newer version for Android includes a unique restart option in the power menu as well as a faster camera startup time. For avid gamers, the new operating system also includes a PS4 remote play compatibility. Phone Arena further elaborates that the update in operating system is not confirmed in the latest update introduced by Sony for Xperia X and X compact.
However, there is a possibility that the users may have received a partial patch only. Yet Xperia X and X Compact users need not worry about the missing updates. The January 1, 2017 patch was officially incomplete, confirmed Google, as reported by Android Headlines. The report also clarifies that Sony need not be worried about its devices being affected by vulnerabilities.
