Fans of the "Dragon Quest" series will be getting their hands on the "Dragon Quest VIII:  Journey of the Cursed King" as it releases for the Nintendo 3DS, along with a new trailer.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, the trailer for "Dragon Quest VIII" primarily focuses on returning to the game's story, along with the characters and game mechanics. The trailer first shows the main quest of the game, where they must save the king and his daughter from curse that has transformed them into a troll and horse. Players would have to embark on a journey and stop the evil sorcerer Dhoulmagus from causing chaos in the world.

Like the original PS2 version, players will the role of the Hero, a young royal guard, and be accompanied by Yangus the bandit, Jessica the mage, and Angelo the noble knight. However, the 3DS version, will be introducing two new playable characters as well that could never be recruited in the original game: Red the Pirate and Morrie the monster handler.

Players won't have to worry about random encounters in the world as they can be seen and be avoided. This new version of "Dragon VIII" also has had some tweaks in the character stats, voice acting and the alchemy mechanics.

The trailer also shows the different methods of travelling, besides walking. Players can sail through the sky, ride on horseback, or sail the seas with a ship.

Players can also capture monsters and tame them as pets. These tamed monsters can also be used in the new Monster Arena, where players can pit them against other teams in a "Pokemon"-esque fashion.

The story has been adjusted in a few segments and there have been a few additions for this new 3DS version. Some outfits have been altered as well from the original PS2 version due to censorship issues.

Dualshockers reported that "Dragon Quest VIII" has been released for the Playstation 2 back in 2004 in Japan and in 2005 in North America. The game has already been launched early in Japan for the 3DS back in 2015 and was scheduled for release in North America late in 2016 until a reschedule of a final 2017 release date this January.
