Wednesday's midseason premiere of "Suits" opened with a dream sequence where Harvey and Donna shared a kiss post-coital. While the scene serves as a milestone for the shippers of the duo, the possibility of them having a relationship is still a long shot.
Speaking with TV Line, executive producer Aaron Korsh addressed that monumental scene for Harvey and Donna where he admitted that it was intended to tease the fans in a way. When asked about what the dream says about Harvey's feelings for Donna, the showrunner shared that he thinks it's "complicated." He explains that Harvey has a lot of issues to resolve before he might finally open up himself to a relationship.
"He's got some messed-up issues with his mom," Korsh told the publication
"Until he gets through it, he's never going to be able to be the man for Donna. [That is] sort of the conventional and possibly accurate assessment of what's going on."
For six seasons, longtime "Suits" fans have been rooting for Harvey and Donna to hit it off romantically. But their professional careers will be at stake if they finally take a shot it. At this point, it's unclear if the writers will once again plot another steamy scene between the fan-favorite duo. Fans can only hope that the second time it happens, it's already unfolding in reality.
Moving forward, viewers can expect to see Harvey making amends with his mother. According to Korsh, the next episode will feature both flashback and present-day scenes where Harvey sees his mother (Brynn Thayer). As for Mike, his journey of figuring out what to do next with his career will also be highlighted in the episode.
"Suits" stars Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Meghan Markle and Rick Hoffman. Season 6 Episode 12 titled "The Painting" will air on Wednesday, Feb. 2 on USA. A promo for the episode has been released via Youtube, watch it below.
