Earlier month, we had Obsidian Entertainment tease a new project in their Twitter account. While some had speculated that it might be a new "Fallout" game (due to "Fallout: New Vegas"), the company has confirmed it to be a sequel to one of their hit RPGs, "Pillars of Eternity."

Just a week ago, fans went crazy on the "Project Louisiana" post and the image that came along with it in the official Twitter account of Obsidian Entertainment, according to earlier reports. Some actually speculated that it would've been "Fallout: New Orleans" (some sort of spiritual successor to "New Vegas") but the image suggested a medieval fantasy feel and a quote from Edér, one of the companions in "Pillars of Eternity," on something about a god.

True enough, Dualshockers reports that Obsidian has booted up another crowdfunding campaign for "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire," a sequel to the 2015 acclaimed isometric party RPG. However, instead of the Kickstarter campaign that the studio used to fund the first game, they now focus on launching it on Fig instead with the aim raising fund to $1.1 million (the target of the first "Pillars of Eternity" game).

Just an FYI, while similar in function, Fig actually differs from Kickstarter in a sense that it allows people to invest in projects and also potentially share in the profits. Additionally, Obsidian mentioned that $2.25 million is open for equity.

Now for the story overview of "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire":

"Eothas has returned. The god of light and rebirth was thought dead, but he now inhabits the stone titan that sat buried under your keep, Caed Nua, for millennia. Ripping his way out of the ground, he destroyed your stronghold and left you at the brink of death. To save your soul, you must track down the wayward god and demand answers - answers which could throw mortals and the gods themselves into chaos.

Your hunt takes you to the Deadfire Archipelago. Located even farther east than the colonies of the Eastern Reach, Deadfire comprises hundreds of islands spanning thousands of miles - ranging from lush tropics to barren deserts. Many of these lands have never been charted, while others are inhabited by rich native cultures and a new wave of colonial settlers."

"Pillars of Eternity II" will actually bring you across seas to new landscapes into the mysterious realm of Deadfire Archipelago. New cultures and environment await, along with new conflicts, creatures and characters.

One notable thing in the sequel of Obsidian's acclaimed RPG is that everything is now are now more "living and breathing." You see people of Deadfire having their own lives, jobs and their own affairs to attend to even when you're not watching. While this level of AI intricacy has been attempted in the world of video games, they haven't quite hit it yet. Hopefully, "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" will really hit the mark on this one.

While the new trailer already featured Edér, it's still unclear on who among the companions will be returning in the sequel, as well as the new characters that will be introduced.

Just like in the first game, your actions and choices matter throughout the course of "Pillars of Eternity II." What's more is that the impact of choices from the first game as the watcher of Caed Nua will carry over into the sequel.

An official description from Fig also mentions that the sequel will also boast of intense and immersive dynamic weather. "Rains, fierce winds and sandstorms are among the harsher conditions that are commonplace in Deadfire. You'll even hear the rain pounding on the roof when you go inside."

Along with better visuals and lighting, there will also be revised spells and abilities, new scripted interaction with NPCs and companions and "much more".
