Stephen Curry missed the game for the very first time in the 2016-17 season on Sunday night, Jan. 29, against Portland Trail Blazers. He had a stomach flu and could not play as his team mate finally defeated the Trail Blazers in Portland.
Stephen Curry had just a glorious night against the LA Clippers on Saturday Jan. 28. He posted 43 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists as they annihilated the Clippers 144-98 at the Warrios home stadium Oracle Arena, San Fransisco. However, according to NBA.com, when he was very sick as he woke up the next morning, and head coach Steve Kerr said that Curry insisted to play despite his condition.
"Steph wanted to play, and it didn't make any sense,” Coach Kerr said. “It didn't make any sense from a personal standpoint for him to play, nor from a team standpoint.”
Coach Kerr sent the two-time MVP back to hotel as the Warriors continued their winning streak to win 113-111 against the home team. Portland Trail Blazers played brilliantly to match the Warriors until the final buzzer.
The Trail Blazers back court duo CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard made a tremendous play with a combined 47 points. Evan Turner supported them with 18 points and center Mason Plumlee contributed 15 points to give Warriors a hard game to win.
While for Warriors, veteran point guard Shaun Livingston was unable to match the speed of Lillard, and he only tallied 6 points and 3 assists. Fortunately, other players stepped up and carried the team together. Durant scored 33 points from 26 shots as reported by SB Nation.
Following Durant high scoring play, Klay Thompson posted 27 points, followed by center Zaza Pachulia with 14 points. While Andre Iguodala scored 12 points off-the-bench in a narrow win against the Trail Blazers.
