"Desperate Housewives" vet Eva Longoria has signed on to guest star as a villain in "Empire" Season 3. She is looking to have Cookie's ex for lunch.
According to Deadline, Longoria will play Charlotte Frost in Fox's hit drama series "Empire" Season 3. Her character is the formidable director of the all-powerful state gaming commission. She has the power to make-or-break Lucious' dreams of expanding Empire's reach to Las Vegas and beneath her alluring façade, lies a force of darkness and corruption.
Longoria's episode is slated to air this spring. She joins other previously announced "Empire" Season 3 guest stars, including "Private Practice" actor Taye Diggs (Angelo Dubois), "Do Not Harm" actress Phylicia Rashad (Diana Dubois), "Dancing with the Stars" winner Rumer Willis, and "House of Lies" actress Nia Long, Variety reported. The series regulars include "Wayward Pines" actor Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon) and "Person of Interest" actress Taraji P. Henson (Cookie Lyon).
Since Fox has already picked up for an 18-episode Season 4, the second half of "Empire " Season 3 picks up when the battle between Lucious and Cookie explodes into their biggest war yet. After launching a deadly missile at Angelo, Lucious announces his new music project, Inferno, and puts everyone on notice. Cookie vows to knock him off his throne for good.
In TV series, Longoria is best known and got Golden Globe-nominated for her role as Gabrielle Solis in "Desperate Housewives." She is also featured in the British miniseries "Decline and Fall," opposite UK comedy star Jack Whitehall, which premieres this spring. She most recently starred in the short-lived NBC comedy "Telenovela."
In films, Longoria stars in the upcoming feature film "Lowriders," which is slated for release on May 12. She is represented by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
"Empire" returns with the back half of Season 3 on March 22, Wednesday, at 9 p.m.
