"Castlevania" is going to be a TV series soon through Netflix. Although additional details for the upcoming series is still scarce, tidbits from series producer offer a glimpse on how the series will look and its possible storyline.
A Netflix Original Content
Netflix continues its heavy investment in original programming and the upcoming "Castlevania" animated series proves that the streaming giant is not slowing down soon. According to IGN, the TV series will feature four episodes on its first season and each episode will most likely run for 30 minutes.
Four episodes with 30-minute runtime is practically a stretched out movie. But the platform "Castlevania" chose to show its content is perfect for its planned content. According to Gamespot, the series is expected to be an R-Rated because of its gore and violence.
Producer Adi Shankar also confirmed that the upcoming series is going to be based on "Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse." For the unfamiliar, the third installment of Castlevania has been rated M because of its depiction of violence.
The story of Castlevania's third installment video game is quite interesting because it focuses on Belmont family requested by the Catholic church to put an end to Count Dracula. The game is set in the middle ages and Count Dracula is wreaking havoc in Europe. The Belmont family is the only who could stop him because Trevor Belmont possesses the whip that could kill vampires.
R-Rated Series and More
Aside from an R-Rated animated series, the producer also promises that the adaptation will end the bad video game adaptation in movies. It also promises to be just like "Game of Thrones" and an animated series created for adults.
The first season is expected to be released this year but with no definite date yet. The second season is also confirmed for 2018 release.
