Indian star Irrfan Khan is seemingly becoming one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. Recent reports stated that the actor has turned down a role in none other than a Steven Spielberg movie, since he admittedly did not want to portray the character that was being offered to him.
"I didn't like my character," the 49-year-old actor mentioned in an interview given to NDTV.
The talked-about movie also stars Hollywood diva Scarlet Johansson. The actor's declaration was reportedly met with much hue and cry from his fans since the actor himself admitted in November 2015 that he was in talks for a project with Spielberg, which he shockingly turned down after two months.
This is not the first time that Khan has said no to a Hollywood movie. The actor has turned down many offers from several established directors like Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan for movies like "The Martian" and "Interstellar," respectively. He had also rejected the offer of a role in 2008 hit "Body Of Lies," citing the reason that it just did not work out.
Khan might have turned down some seemingly great offers from Hollywood, but rumors are rife that he already has big Hollywood projects lined up for the next year. The actor is reportedly in talks for the lead role in the screen adaptation of Pakistani author Mohammad Hanif's novel "A Case Of Exploding Mangoes."
The novel is a satire, revolving around the plane crash of Dictator General Muhammad Zia ul-Haq. The story is told by a man who believes his father committed suicide because of Zia ul-Haq. Although the actor is yet to sign on the dotted lines, he is excited about the project and will be meeting the producers soon, inside sources told Times Of India.
Apart from that, Khan will soon appear in the third Robert Langdon movie with Tom Hanks "Inferno." The movie is a sequel to "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons." It is directed by Ron Howard of "A Beautiful Mind" fame and is expected to release in October.
