Entertainment label United Artists Agency has recently revealed that their talent Yoo Ah In will be taking another set of health examination as a requirement for South Korea’s mandatory military enlistment process.
According to the agency, the “Secret Love Affair” star is scheduled to take the examination on March 15 at the Military Manpower Administration. This will be his fourth time taking the test.
On February 15, United Artist Agency has confirmed the rumors that the actor was diagnosed with benign bone tumors, Soompi reported. Because of this, Yoo had received negative feedback from the public and was accused making excuses to be exempted from doing his national duty.
To clarify the issue, Yoo stated through a public letter that he is not using his condition to avoid his enlistment to the military. He added that he will do his best to complete his duty for his country.
According to Yoo as quoted by All KPop: "I was aware that male celebrities can be misunderstood of using their injury or health condition to avoid military enlistment. That is why I completed all my schedule as planned and didn't reveal detailed information…My injury and the health condition that is currently creating controversies are my misfortune. It is not a tool for me to avoid military enlistment…"
"The fact that I have to ask for forgiveness to others for my misfortune struggles me but as an actor who grows with the public's love and attention, I decided to accept it as my responsibility. I will overcome the pain the controversy has caused and carry out the duty as a citizen. As a person with the power to influence society, I will do my best to complete the duty,” he added.
Yoo is known for his promising performances in the TV drama series ”Sungkyunkwan Scandal ” and the film “Punch”. He made his debut in the entertainment industry in 2003 after being part of the teen drama ”Sharp 1”.
