The live-action adaptation of Japanese manga Oboreru Knife by George Asakura just released its first teaser trailer showing excited fans a glimpse of Komatsu Nana as Natsume Mochizuki.
The movie Oboreru Knife follows the story of Natsume, a sixth-grade model who transfers from the vibrant city Tokyo to the more relaxed atmosphere of the countryside.
Natsume, initially finds it challenging to adjust to her new life and surroundings as she is desperately missing modeling, as well as her friends in Tokyo.
However, all that changes when she meets a timid boy named Kouchiro Hasegawa, played by Masaki Suda. Natsume gets captivated with Masaki as he impacts her life in ways she could have never imagined.
Nana spoke up about her character in an interview and said that she honestly did not understand the character that she was portraying at first. However, as filming progressed, she admitted that she slowly gained an understanding of Natsume and felt comfortable even while shooting the most difficult scenes.
"Being able to develop Natsume's character has been a great experience," the actress said.
As for Suda, he revealed that playing Kouchiro was intense as it was a new experience for him. "After filming scene after scene, I realized Kou is a character full of contradictions. He has a wildness to him that you'd want to avoid at all costs but can't help but be drawn to," he remarked.
Aside from Natsume and Suda, other cast members are Daiki Shigeoka as Katsuoshi Otomo, a classmate of Natsume who develops feelings for her and Mone Kamishiraishi as Kana Matsunaga, another classmate of Natsume.
Oboreru Knife, though it has a theme darker than other shoujo stories, is a coming-of-age story, with central themes such as friendship and love. The film is slated to premiere in this year. See the trailer below.
