"Modern Family" has booked Nathan Fillion to guest star in Season 8. Fillion, whose known for playing detective on "Castle," will appear in multi-episodes of the ABC comedy as a weatherman.
The casting of Fillion has been announced by executive producer Stevn Levitan at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly reported. Fillion will be introduced as Rainer Shine, a weatherman who will interact with the Dunphy family on "Modern Family" Season 8.
Fillion currently stars on veteran procedural, "Castle." But since the series is about to conclude after its upcoming ninth season, the casting of Fillion on "Modern Family" could be a sign that the actor is looking for new projects to get busy with. Aside from "Modern Family" Season 8, he has also signed up for some movie projects. The actor is set to appear on "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and "Yamasong: March of the Hollows."
In other casting news, "Modern Family" has also tapped Martin Short to guest star in Season 8. The comedian will appear in episode 2 as Merv Schechter described as a "promotional maven." Short will be seen next on NBC's "Hairspray Live!"
"Modern Family" Season 8 will continue this fall with the family members reuniting at home for Father's Day, ABC has revealed. The new season will also find Phil enjoying more hobbies; while Mitch and Cam will find themselves dealing with a maturing Lily. The series stars Ed O'Neil, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell.
"Modern Family" Season 8 premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9PM on ABC.
