Sarah Jessica Parker is quite miffed with the comparisons between her yet-to-debut show "Divorce" and her past show "Sex and the city."
The 51-year-old actress refuses to buy the theory that the two show are related. During the cover shoot for September's issue of Marie Claire, she said that she loves the way the pilot episode of "Divorce" opens as it makes people see a connection with "Sex and the City" but the moment it ends, one realizes that it is very different.
She also spoke at length about her character Frances during the show's panel at the press tour of Television Critics Association. Talking about the reasons that made her take up the role, Parker said that she just wanted to tell the story of marriage. As for the character, she said that she does not relate to Frances as her life is very different, People reported.
According to Parker, Frances is more chilly and withholding than what she is in real life. Also, the character is not very buoyant and can be mean and angry too. Nevertheless, she loved playing it and did not necessarily need to relate to her.
Notably, Parker is also the executive producer of the 10-episode, comedy HBO show, which is premiering on 9 Oct and tells the story of a long, drawn-out divorce. Interestingly, Parker is a happily married woman in real-life with three children. She has been married to actor Mathew Broderick for 19 long years.
What is more, she is a firm believer in the institution of marriage, and feels that it is the investment in the other person that maintains a marriage, apart from managing expectations.
In an earlier interview with Entertainment Tonight, Parker had said that she is in a happy marriage but the idea of divorce interests her. Talking about the concept of divorce, she had said that it is something that a lot of people have experienced and thus, she would love to tell the story of separation.
