Singer-rapper Jeon Ji Yoon is now preparing to debut as a solo artist after her former group 4Minute disbanded in June due to contract expiration. According to her new talent agency JS E&M, Jeon is set to release her first-ever album as a soloist in October.
"[Jeon] is currently working hard on a new single. She will complete recording the song by the end of this month, and will prepare for a music video afterwards," Korea Joongang Daily quoted a source affiliated with the talent agency.
The singer-rapper, alongside three other members of 4Minute, reportedly refused to renew their contract with Cube Entertainment after the disbandment. Jeon then signed with JS E&M, joining artists like "The Aggressives" actor Chun Jung Myung, model-actress Byun Jung Soo and actor Seo Ha Joon, Soompi reported.
The 25-year-old singer-rapper debuted with 4Minute in 2009 with their single entitled "Hot Issues." Aside from working with the girl group, Jeon has also collaborated with other artists like After School's Bekah for song "Bring It Back" and BTOB's Jung Ilhoon for "This Ain't Me."
Aside from that, Jeon landed a lead role for online drama "Dreaming CEO" in 2014. She was also featured in "Immortal Songs" and "Unpretty Rapstars" in 2011 and 2015 respectively.
Meanwhile, Jeon's bandmate HyunA said a 4Minute reunion would be possible after each of them accomplish their dreams. She also revealed she has not been communicating with other 4Minute members due to her hectic work schedule as she also prepares to release her mini-album.
HyunA remained with Cube Entertainment while Nam Ji Hyun, Heo Ga Yoon, Kwon So Hyun and Jeon decided not to renew their contracts with the talent agency.
