Beginning September, Starbucks coffee lovers can now enjoy non-dairy coffee as the behemoth coffee café introduces its own recipe of almond milk.

Incorporating almond milk in the coffee is not Starbuck's idea but the customers' idea themselves, especially those who preferred non-dairy creamer. Customers voice out their requests through a platform called "My Starbucks Idea."

"We created our own almond milk recipe to complement our hot, iced and Frappuccino blended beverages," said Starbucks beverage R&D team manager Yoke Wong.

"It was designed so that when steamed, it creates rich foam for hot beverages and is delicious and creamy when served in cold beverages," he added.

The almond milk that Starbucks will be serving is their own recipe. It will be composed of unflavored almond butter which can be customized for all drinks with an additional of 60 cents. Almond milk is considered the most popular among non-dairy options and is preferred by a greater number of US adults who consume non-dairy milk, according to Time.

Before the introduction of almond milk, Starbucks only offered two dairy substitutes which are soya milk and coconut milk; however, with the adverse effect report of links that soya milk can cause cancer, it was no longer consumed. Likewise, with coconut milk, it was no longer preferred as the taste of the coffee becomes the taste of the coconut milk itself.

Offering a new creamer alternative would be great for those who have allergies with dairy creamer. But, how about for those who are allergic to nuts?

According to the MSN, Food Allergy Research & Education approximates Americans who are allergic to nuts are between 0.4 and 0.6 percent, equivalent to almost a populace of 1.3 million to 1.94 million.

On September 6, Starbuck's 4,600 locations will begin serving almond milk. The new creamer will have its debut at Starbucks locations in New York, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Northern California, and Pacific Northwest.  Other locations will follow serving almond milk soon and onwards.
