EXO, one of the most famous Korean boy group, released a new album titled "Lotto" last Thursday and gained a huge commercial success within hours of release. The album sold very well and made EXO to score three million record sales on their combined album.
As quoted by Korea Times, SM Entertainment said that EXO has snagged the triple million-seller crown with its third batch of albums. One day before, the previous album "EX'ACT" has already made sales of 1,170,365 copies.
As usual, their latest album "LOTTO" is available in two versions: Korean and Mandarin. Within hours after its release on Wednesday, the album has tallied 796,085 copies for both Korean and Mandarin versions, while the pre-order repackaged album scored 374,280 copies.
The album's main single "Lotto" was released on midnight Aug. 18 and instantly made top position on eight different music chart. Soompi also reported that two other new tracks, "She's Dreaming" and "Can't Bring Me Down," from the same album also notably rose to the top ranks of the music charts.
EXO is a boy group consists of members from China and Korea. The group currently has ten members which were separated into two sub-groups Exo-K and Exo-M, which perform Korean and Mandarin language song respectively. The band debuted in 2012 with twelve members with their first single "Growl," followed by the first album "XOXO" a year later.
Their debut album scored a commercial success, with more than 1 million copies sold. The main single from the album "Wolf" was released in June 2013, plus their first album eventually won Album of the Year at the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
They continue on the track to success when they released a Christmas album titled "Miracles in December." Both Mandarin and Korean version of the album's single topped the chart in China and Korea.
Afterwards, the next album "Overdose" followed by "Exodus" and "EX'ACT" made a big commercial success as well. Now, with its latest album, EXO has made a breakthrough in sales and reach the the triple million-seller crown.
