Following the controversies revolving around the casting procedures of upcoming drama "My Sassy Girl," SBS has finally spoken up regarding the issue through an official statement released on Tuesday.
The TV network on August 23 denied allegations of being involved in the casting procedures of "My Sassy Girl," saying that SBS was never involve in the discussions of promotions, casting and overall planning of the upcoming drama, which is a TV adaptation of 2001 movie "My Sassy Girl,", Allkpop reported.
According to SBS, an online public audition was crafted by companies RaemongRaein and H.Brothers through the all-cast site of Midas Entertaining to look for an actress suitable for the lead role; however, the TV network clarified they "never officially participated in or discussed matters related to promotions and the planning or procedures of the online casting event."
SBS headquarter employee Producer Oh Jin Seok supported the official statement of the TV network and said SBS would never hold "a faulty audition process such as an online audition casting" in selecting for the lead role of "My Sassy Girl," adding that they "did not participate at all in the audition procedure conducted by the external production companies."
The controversies started when Kim Joo Hyun suddenly stepped down from playing the female lead role of "My Sassy Girl" reportedly due to getting too much public attention because of the project. She was later replaced by Oh Yeon Seo who is known for her roles in "My Husband Got A Family" and "Please Come Back, Mister," Soompi noted.
However, the controversy does not end there as rumors are linking actress Kim Yoo Hye as the new female lead role of "My Sassy Girl," which was cleared out by a representative of the upcoming drama who said they are still in the discussion stages.
