"Avengers: Infinity War" co-director Joe Russo dished what he knows about the supposed inclusion of "X-Men" within the MCU.

Asked about the rumored "X-Men" crossover, Russo said that he is not privy on behind-the-scenes conversations among Marvel bosses. He said that as far as his involvement in Marvel Studios goes, he has not heard anything about the "X-Men" universe potentially merging with MCU, Comic Book reported.

"As far as we know, right now there isn't talk regarding the X-Men. I don't know if behind-the-scenes there were conversations or if there are conversations happening but we certainly haven't heard of any..." he said.

The "Captain America: Civil War" co-director opined that it would require a "certain alchemy" to forge a situation for studios to share properties. He went to say that the deal to bring "Spider-Man" to the MCU is because of Marvel boss Kevin Feige and Sony's Amy Pascal.

The "X-Men" crossover to MCU sparked earlier in the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con where Marvel gave a preview of incoming additions to the MCU from the characters to upcoming films and movie projects. Listed among these projects is "Legion," an "X-Men" television series that is being developed by Marvel alongside Fox, Screen Rant reported.

The speculations heightened when "Legion" showrunner Noah Hawley said that although the upcoming series centers on a mutant character, fans should not expect prominent "X-Men" characters to show up.

Needless to say, the "X-Men" the possibility of a mutant crossover to MCU depends on the working relationship between Fox and Marvel. Given the recent amicable deal between Marvel and Sony, fans are still holding their breath.
