Square Enix has another "Final Fantasy" title coming and it's all cutesy and funny compared to the other franchises in the series. First mentioned last year at E3, more details about "World of Final Fantasy" have been unveiled in PAX West 2016.
The "Final Fantasy" series have been known to have a serious yet epic tone to its storytelling, with hints of the occasional comedy in between. This new game, however, tackles on the lighter side of the "Final Fantasy" multiverse, adding adorable humor in the mix, according to IGN. The game also employs the chibi-style of animation in the world of Grymoire. The exceptions are the main sibling protagonists Lann and Reyne, who can shift between "chibi" and "normal" forms at will.
Of course, no "Final Fantasy" game would be complete without the monster encounters. "World of Final Fantasy" introduces a new mechanic where players can "imprism" monsters, which is similar to capturing Pokemon. During battle, you can use these captured monsters (also called Mirages) to aid you anytime.
Gameplay mechanics are also somewhat changed as menu navigation has been simplified for quicker use. Although, players can also switch to the classical style menu when choosing attacks and skills when needed. Although the game may feel very accessible, it is still very "Final Fantasy"-esque.
The game will also feature guest characters from the other "Final Fantasy" titles such as Cloud Strife, Squall Leonhart, Tidus, and Lightning. It was also confirmed by Gematsu that Snow Villiers from the "Final Fantasy XIII" series will be appearing as well.
"World of Final Fantasy" will be hitting shelves on Oct. 25 in North America for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Japan will have an Oct. 27 release, while the game will be released on Oct. 28 in Europe.
