A month before the premiere of highly-anticipated "Supernatural" Season 12, Dean is doubling his efforts to save his brother Sam from the hands of the Men of Letters (MOL). Although this time, Dean will be backed by Castiel who is coming back with vengeance.
"Supernatural" Season 12 will feature Dean and Castiel in their quest to hunt the location of Sam; however, the combined forces of the two seemed not enough to save Sam from the MOL as a photo showed Dean and Castiel lying on the street after they were likely beaten by a MOL.
Meanwhile, EP Bob Singer vowed "Supernatural" Season 12 will be about going "back to basics" with the return of Mary, Dean and Sam's mother. The EP also emphasized they are planning to "tell smaller stories" in the upcoming season.
"We've introduced the British Men of Letters, they'll be part of what we're doing. And we've still got Lucifer out there, so there's a hunt for Lucifer," he said as quoted by Variety.
On the other hand, Misha Collines who takes the role of Castiel admitted he wants the badass warrior Cas back for "Supernatural" Season 12. "Every time I've said what I wanted on the show in the past, it has not come to fruition. So, I thought that wasn't going to happen but that's how we're starting Season 12," Collins said as per iTechPost.
According to showrunner Andrew Dabb, Castiel is expected to have "a very specific response to Mary" considering her importance to the Winchester brothers. Dabb also revealed they will be using Castiel in stand-alone episodes in "Supernatural" Season 12 which he said will impact the character of Castiel.
"That's very heavily about Castiel and the journey he's been on, some things from his past that we're not aware of are getting brought to light." Dabb added.
