"Bridget Jones's Baby" was at the world premiere in London on Monday, Sept. 5. The film marks the return of Renee Zellweger after a long hiatus. She comes back to play Bridget Jones in third installment of the franchise.
The movie marks the return of Zellweger to big screen, after the Oscar winning actress decided to step away from Hollywood in 2010. In an interview with New York Times, she told that she used her time-off to travel and study screenwriting
"I had a lot of promises that I made to myself, years ago, about things that I wanted to learn and try," she said.
According to BBC, the third movie of the "Brigdet Jones" franchise received a warm response from critics. They praised the movie as the funniest of all the "Bridget Jones" franchise, and they also applauded Zellweger's performance along with her two co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth.
"The third in the Bridget Jones series has everything we love about her films. Nearly all the cast is back, jokes are razor-sharp and cultural references are on point," wrote one of the critics.
"Bridget Jones" was based on the Helen Fielding's novel of the same name. First adaptation of the novel was released in 2001 with "Bridget Jones Diary," followed by "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" three years later.
"Bridget Jones's Baby" tells about the story of Bridget Jones, who is now 43-years-old and still single after her failed relationship with Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver. She is now put her focus on her career as a news producer to find fufillment in her life. She meets a handsome American named Jack (Dempsey) and she falls in love with him and they found themselves to be in a relationship, while she is still seeing Mark (Firth).
All of a sudden, she finds herself pregnant, and she cannot determine whether the father of the baby is Jack or Mark.
"Bridget Jones's Baby" will be released to theaters on Sept. 16 in the United States and United Kingdom.
