NBA News: Washington Wizards reveals its new patriotic uniform

Washington Wizards reveals its alternate new uniform, with a patriotic look in stars and stripes on Thursday Sept. 8. The team wil wear this patriotic uniform in six home games this season.

The patriotic uniform embodies white jerseys featuring the word "Washington" across the chest, and three stars side panels along with red and white strips. While the shorts feature a red and white stripes with the Wizards' monument logo. The Wizards will wear this new uniform in conjunction with the team's newly established "military series," as reported by Washington Post, to honor six different branches of the military at six home games.

The six military branches to be honored by the uniform are National Guards, Air Force, Marines, Army, Coast Guards and Navy. While the games which they will wear this new jersey are against Cleveland on Nov. 11, Charlotte on Dec. 14 and Apr. 4, Memphis on Jan. 18, Indiana on Feb.10, and Dallas on Mar. 15.

On each of th game, the presenting sponsor Leidos will donate 100 tickets to military families in partnership with the USO. According to Fox Sports, the uniform is one of the best alternate jerseys in the entire NBA, as the uniform is as patriotic and beautiful as well.

Washington Wizards is the only NBA team that resides in Washington DC, with Verizon Center as its home court. The Wizards has a long story in NBA, since it was founded in 1961 as Chicago Packers. The team moved to Baltimore, in Washington suburb area in 1972 and became Washington Bullets.

During the 1970's, Washington is one of the strongest team in the NBA. They are the first team to make the NBA Finals four times in that decade, and became the NBA champion in 1978. Washington Bullets changed its nickname into Washington Wizards in 1997.

The Wizards will start 2016-2017 NBA season in a pre-season game against Philadelphia 76ers in Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia.
