Bandai Namco has just recently released a demo featuring the gameplay of Akuma's story mode in the upcoming "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution." The demo was featured via livestream at PAX West in Seattle.
Shoryuken reported that the story mode doesn't just make the players fight in matches throughout a progression of levels but also incorporates actual cinematic moments in between gameplay for an immersive feel of the story, while still maintaining the action. The character Heihachi Mishima was shown battling Akuma in the demo, while being told in the latter's point of view.
According to VG 24/7, Akuma's presence in the game is rather natural. "Tekken 7" made sure that his gameplay is well-adapted into the overall system of the game, making that he "looks, feels, sounds and moves like the real thing."
During Gamescom, the "Tekken" series' Katsuhiro Harada and its game designer Michael Murray mentioned that the story will be really revolving around Heihachi and Kazuya clashing over who's going to be the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu clan, Scoop Everyday reported. Players can also get to utilize newcomers to the series as they move forward in the story.
It is still not yet known how or why Akuma is included in the "Tekken" lore. But it certainly got people interested. The character was originally from the "Street Fighter" series, being one of the main recurring villains. Despite the concerning fact that "Tekken x Street Fighter" is on an "indefinite hold," fans of both "Tekken" and "Street Fighter" will be pleased with Akuma's involvement in "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution."
One notable feature of "Tekken 7" is Rage Mode and Rage Arts. This is something similar to "Street Fighter," in which players can enter into a super-powered state at a certain point of health. This will also prompt players to boost their damage and speed, even if it lasts for a few seconds. Power-attacks and special moves are sure to be included in this mode as well.
"Tekken 7" has already been released last year in Japan for the arcades. It will hit shelves for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
