Following his last recording with "Running Man" on October 31, Gary and his on-screen partner Song Ji Hyo celebrated their 6th anniversary as the Monday Couple of the popular TV show.
On November 1, Gary took to his Instagram account to share a photo of him while looking at an anniversary cake intended for the Monday Couple of "Running Man." However, Gary was looking dismal rather than happy on the picture," Allkpop reported.
"Running Man's" Gary captioned the Instagram post, "Thank you, thank you," drawing emotional comments from his followers on SNS. "This is so heartbreaking. There is no Monday Couple anymore. Good luck and write amazing songs as always," a commenter posted.
Not only his fans are sad for his departure on "Running Man," but also his co-cast members, who also expressed their sadness over Gary's decision to leave the popular program after six years.
"Gary, I've been feeling weird since this morning. I can't believe it's your last shooting, and the sky is downcast. I'm very sad, you rascal. See you later," Ji Suk Jin posted on his Instagram account as per Soompi.
Following his decision to leave "Running Man," Gary apologized to his fans and promised to do even better in his chosen path.
"I promise I will do my best wherever and whatever I pursue in the future especially for all my fans that have given me these memorable moments that I will never forget," Gary wrote.
"Running Man" producers revealed Gary has previously expressed his desire to focus solely on his music career, adding that the Korean rapper wanted to spend his time creating music.
Hence, the "Running Man" production decided to respect Gary's decision to depart from the program to pursue his music career.
We will miss you, Gary and Monday Couple!
