There were numerous attempts in making this horror franchise a game in the past, but failed horribly. Now, American indie studios Gun Media and IllFonic are trying to make up the series to the dedicated fans by making a game true to the horror slasher that fans come to know and love with "Friday the 13th: The Game."

According to reports from Fabnewz, alongside other products belonging the huge "Friday The 13th" slasher film, like a number of films, graphic novels, a few video games and television shows, "Friday The 13th : The Game" will be the next big thing in the survival horror genre. Players would be able to witness the huge amounts of blood and gore as they survive against the hockey masked, machete wielding, and unrelenting killer of Camp Crystal Lake.

The players will be playing in a third-person perspective in a 1-vs.-7 type of match, where they fight or elude to survive as the camp counselors. There are a selection of 11 camp counselor characters for players to choose from survival horror game, each possessing their own unique characteristics and skill set.

Aside from trying to utilize stealth and tactics to avoid from getting killed, players would also need to rely on teamwork in order to survive as well. A 1-vs.-7 type of gameplay may sound easy and imbalanced, but those who know the "Friday The 13th" franchise know that Jason Voorhees is an unstoppable killing machine. The bloodthirsty character has to search his hidden victims through heightened senses and has the ability to pop out in unexpected places.

Being based on a slasher film, "Friday The 13th : The Game" will not shy away from portraying excessive violence as Jason finally gets his hands on an unfortunate camp counselor victim. There was a recent gameplay video showcasing numerous methods from the killer in executing his victims in the most graphically brutal way possible.

While games have already had a fair share of gore, "Friday The 13th : The Game" should be getting an ESRB rating of M (Mature). However, recent reports mentioned that the game may be getting an AO (Adults Only) rating because the game may be containing nudity and sex scenes.

"We can get away with quite a bit of stuff to not get an AO," wrote Community Lead Ben Strauss. "Games like Far Cry 3, The Witcher 3, God of War and plenty of other games have a lot of gore, a lot of nudity and quite a bit of sex. We're confident we'll be right on target where we want to be at without fearing for an AO rating."
