Two months ago, R&B singer and producer DEAN was rumored to be joining YG Entertainment.
A report from Soompi stated DEAN will reportedly leave Joombas Music Group for YG Entertainment, adding that the R&B singer is in discussions to sign a contract with the big agency.
YG Entertainment has finally released a statement to address the issue, denying Dean will be joining the YG family. "There were rumors that DEAN was headed to YG Entertainment, but it's just that he's close with the musicians there," the label said as cited by Allkpop.
The agency continued, "It's true that he's leaving Joombas Music Group, but he'll be staying with Universal Music."
However, Joombas Music Group countered DEAN has yet to decide whether he will be leaving his current agency or not. "We're still talking with DEAN on good terms. There's nothing definite decided about him leaving the company, but it's true that he'll be staying under Universal Music's management."
The singer-producer began his career at a young age. DEAN started performing with Keith Ape at the age of 16 years old. After a couple of years, DEAN began writing for other Korean artists.
He became part of Joombas Music Group when he was 20, working under the songwriting team. Last year, DEAN made his debut in the United States with the release of "I'm Not Sorry," featuring Eric Bellinger.
In the same year, DEAN debuted in South Korea with the release of his second single titled "Pour Up" that features Block B's Zico. He was even branded as the Best R&B and Soul Song during this year's Korean Music Awards.
"I like mixing alternative, futuristic and experimental elements into my music. First I was really influenced by American pop music, so when I received an offer to make music here in the US, I was curious, I wanted to know how American audiences would react to my music," DEAN revealed.
