Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" will have a digital spin-off series titled "Slingshot" to be directed by Joe Quesada.
That's right. Elena 'Yo-yo' Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) a.k.a 'Slingshot' will be getting her own mini-series. It was hinted shortly after the mid-season finale of "AoS," when Natalia Cordova Buckley shared a surprise teaser in a tweet.
In the video, Cordova-Buckley, Clark Gregg and Quesada himself talked about the project. Cordova-Buckley said that she did not actually know Quesada until a camera operator told her "mid-episode." For his part, Quesada went to praise her as a "wonderful actress." He said that he is excited for the project, IGN reported. The actress returned the favor in one of her tweets.
This will be Quesada's debut as a director. He is currently the Chief Creative Officer of Marvel. He had been with the company for a long time as an artist and a writer prior to becoming the company's editor-in-chief in 2000, Screen Rant reported.
Pre-production for the "Slingshot" series is already underway. In fact, Quesada has already arranged detailed hand-drawn story boards for the series.
"Slingshot" will reportedly premiere on exclusively online. The series will have six episodes that follows Elena's adventures. According to the official synopsis of the show, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot is set in the world of the hit television series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Taking place shortly before the beginning of Season 4."
For the uninitiated, Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez, is an Inhuman with the ability to move at the speed of one heartbeat and return to where she was. The character was introduced in Season 3 of "AoS" and has since been one of the most exciting supporting characters in the series.
The series is now available exclusively on ABC.com. To know more about "Slingshot," watch the video below:
