Boston Celtics needs player to strengthen their front court to keep them relevant as main contender for top spot in the Eastern Conference. One of the best bargain for them is the Orlando Magic backup center Nikova Vucevic.

According to ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst in his ESPN Radio podcast, Boston Celtics is the best possible landing spot for Vucevic. Currently the Celtics have a very good offense with Isaiah Thomas high scoring game. But, that will be useless without a good defense, especially without the strong player in the low-post.

Celtics currently have Amir Johnson to help Al Horford in the front court. But his weakness in defense may endanger Boston Celtics in the playoffs. Therefore, a strong center and forward is needed. Vucevic is the right target for Celtics.

Furthermore, according to Forbes, with Vucevic take the center position, Al Horford can play to his natural position as power forward. It is because the Montenegrin player has a complete skill set as a center.

As for Vuvevic himself, joining Boston Celtics will be a great opportunity for him to be the starting lineup in the most decorated NBA franchise. Moreover, he is often played off-the bench to give more playing time for Bismarck Miyombo. Although Vucevic statistics is much better, but Orlando Magic head coach Frank Vogel prefer to put Miyombo as a starter and divide the playing time between them.

Vucevic has a strong trait in both defensive and offensive. This season he averages 12.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in 27.8 minutes. While Miyombo only averages 6.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 26.5 minutes.

It is clearly Vucevic’s skill will be much more valuable for Boston Celtics in TD Garden, Boston than for Orlando Magic. However, there are still some considerations need to be taken from either Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic’s front office to reach the deal. Meanwhile, Vucevic continues to show his strong offense and defense for Orlando Magic.

Watch the highlight of Vucevic performance against Miami Heat on Dec.20 as he posted 26 points and 12 rebounds.
