Freddie Stroma will not reprise Dickon Tarly in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. Instead, speculations are rife that Tom Hopper plays the role in the instalment.
Stroma recently confirmed his exit from the HBO series. The actor decided not to reprise his minor part in exchange for a starring role in "Time After Time." However, Stroma admitted that he enjoyed his brief stint as Dickon Tarly.
""It was still fun. I got to be in that world," Stroma told IGN.
Stroma appeared briefly as Dickon Tarly in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. He was in the episode titled "Blood of My Blood," during the dinner scene with Samwell Tarly (John Bradley-West) and Gilly (Hannah Murray). The British star was told that he would reprise his character in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. However, he had to sit the instalment out due to schedule constraints with "Time After Time."
Regardless, Stroma admitted that he enjoyed his brief appearance in the series. In the same interview with the publication, the "Harry Potter" star recalled his experience in "Blood of My Blood."
"Just to be on set and kind of feel like I was in that world, I was a fan sitting there at the table doing that scene," he said.
However, Stroma's exit does not mean Dickon Tarly is not in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. There are speculations that Tom Hopper now plays that character.
Adding fuel to these speculations is the actor's appearance on the set of "Game of Thrones" Season 7 in Spain. Watchers on the Wall shared a photo of the "Black Sails" actor hanging out with James Faulkner, who plays Sam and Dickon's father, Randyll Tarly.
Likewise, IMDB has updated its list of casts for the series. Hopper's name is listed beside the role of Dickon Tarly. Regardless, HBO has yet to confirm Hopper's involvement in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
