From TV screens to handheld screens to the big screen, the videogame world is no stranger in getting a movie adaptation in cinemas, whether seeing our beloved actors and actresses as the characters we love or seeing them in beautifully rendered CGI. This time Capcom's hit RPG "Monster Hunter" will be heading to the big screen as a Hollywood production.

This year's Tokyo Game Show had numerous promises and surprises. And this is where developer Capcom announced the "Monster Hunter" franchise's involvement with Hollywood.

As the game company introduced "Monster Hunter Stories" through a trailer, Capcom made mention of the movie adaptation. Just to note that the latest game they are releasing, albeit being narrative-driven spin-off compared to its plot-lite predecessors, won't have any influence on the film, according to Game's Talk via Gematsu's translations. It was even confirmed by "Monster Hunter" series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto that the movie will follow the main series.

Wired also shares that the hit series has had a cult following among its fans, with each new title often bringing something new to the table.  The fantasy setting is maybe ideal also for Hollywood production, with the movie being likened to "Jurassic Park" (or 2005's "King Kong"), where the monsters are gargantuan and imposing. The only difference is that humans have the ability to fight back and are usually the ones hunting these monsters. It would be epic on how the film would portray battle scenes between them.

Filmmakers would have all the freedom to put an original story in the "Monster Hunter" movie. As long as it doesn't contradict the continuity key plots of the main games, it wouldn't be a problem for the fans.

So far, there has not been any news as to how the movie will be produced, whether it would be live action or animated. Even other details such as studio involvement, cast, and even a release date have not been revealed yet.

Meanwhile, "Monster Hunter Stories" is slated for release on Oct. 8 in Japan. The art style is said to be in more light and playful mood. It will put players in the shoes of a "Rider," instead of the typical "Hunter."
