The developers at the game studio Ready at Dawn have hinted that there may be a sequel to "The Order: 1886" franchise. Creative director Ru Weerasuriya mentioned that "the IP has a future"; what this exactly means is unsure, but let's find out.
The creative director told Game Informer that the "The Order: 1886" has "a future." Weerasuriya further added about the game's future that "is already something that was built from the very get go, from the first day we started working on it. As you know, since you played the game and for the ones who played out there... there is a larger storyline. There is a macro story that keeps going, it's an IP that is actually bigger than the storylines that we have created. So there are legs to this IP, definitely."
It is still unsure, however, that Sony would collaborate with the studio to become publisher for any future IP.
According to Gamespot, Weerasuriya also mentioned back then in May 2015 that "The Order: 1886" was "never written as a one-off story," possibly hinting at another sequel in the franchise. He added that "the first game was more than anything a launch platform to build upon."
Although the story was very cinematic and engaging, visuals were wonderful and gameplay was "at best, perfectly playable," the game in general received numerous negative reviews due to its "mediocrity and missed opportunities."
Somehow there are numerous opinions from others that give "The Order: 1886" some credit. Hopefully a sequel will actually redeem the series, taking it off to be possibly one of the highly acclaimed games in the future.
