"Doctor Strange" is gave away two end-credits that should dictate the tempo of the upcoming films under the franchise. Internationally, the film has also set the bar high earning as much as $86 million internationally.
[*Warning: Spoilers ahead*]
The first credit scene involves Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Apparently, Thor is back on Earth with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in tow. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) reminds him that Loki is not welcome on Earth, especially in New York. Thor said that it's all family drama and he wants Strange's help to find his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins).
The scene is reportedly directed by none other than "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi. Earlier, rumors spread that Thor is headed to the New York Sanctum Sanctorium, which happens to be the new address of Doctor Stephen Strange, Independent reported. Waititi was likewise asked about the connection but the filmmaker playfully squirted the direct answer to the question.
Unlike the first credit scene, the second one is wholly about the direction that "Doctor Strange" will be heading in the future as it shows Baron Mordo's (Chitewel Ejiofor) path towards being Strange's archnemesis. Fans know Mordo as straight up villainy. In contrast, the film has a more nuanced portrayal than that of its print counterpart.
Elsewhere, "Doctor Strange" is proving to be a force to reckon with at the box office. On its opening weekend across 33 markets, the film already scored the biggest international IMAX opening for October, Deadline reported.
"Doctor Strange" is yet to open in North America and China, two of the biggest international markets for Marvel where previous MCU offerings were also a hit.
"Doctor Strange" worldwide release is slated on November 4, 2016.
