The "SoulCalibur" series celebrates its 20th anniversary with Bandai Namco releasing a special video commemorating the series - and a brand new theme for a Pachislot!
According to reports made by Crunchyroll, Bandai Namco celebrates the 20th anniversary for the "SoulCalibur" series even there hasn't been any installments out for release lately. The last entry was 2014's "SoulCalibur: Lost Swords," which was a free-to-play single-player fighting game distributed through PlayStation Network.
We're not counting "SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul" since it was not considered a fighting game and it received numerous unfavorable reviews.
One way honor the series was producing a special video commemorating the past entries from the "Soul" series over the years. The video ended with a hopeful note saying, that "The Legend Will Never Die."
Bandai Namco also set up a special 20th anniversary website and a new Project Soul site. However, there hasn't been any mention of any new title coming out lately yet fans are still hoping on the next game in the series - on that could trump the previous main entry which was "SoulCalibur V."
However, there's one thing that fans in Japan can forward to... a "SoulCalibur" pachislot machine coming this January of next year. What's a pachislot? It's a special kind of slot machine that only be found in Japan's Pachinko parlors. There's even an absurdly long intro video of that machine:
Earlier reports detail that there were rumors of another "SoulCalibur" game coming out, especially with leaked images of new character designs from the site of Malaysian production company Passion Republic. The images showed character redesigns of Natsu, Kilik, Nightmare, and Sophitia. However, further reports revealed that the images were not genuinely Bandai Namco's and a product of a fan who loved the series, thus ruling out any other possibilities of a sequel soon.
